Discontinuing them to develop a more profitable product may have made some punk executive a bonus but in doing so the Nabisco brand was greatly diminished. But the cookies design, which was initially sold with an exotic English biscuit twist, was pretty interesting for its era: With an industrial press from a mold, the cookie took on the look of a flower. It has been years since I have had an Ideal cookie bar and I can still taste them. My mother also tried her best to keep these wonderful cookies to herself and we made a game of finding where she had hidden them and sneak 1m or 2, but of course she always knew. NOTHING COMPARES, not even close.Ideal Bars were easily the greatest cookie ever mass produced,SORRY OREO, but its true. I'd bite a little hole into each end, then suck milk up into it like it was a straw. I've been looking for them for years-I was thinking maybe I just didn't remember the name and that's why I couldn't find them. Man I loved those things. I used to ask for them in my Easter basket and in my Christmas stocking! The peanut butter part of the Ideals was slightly salty, and that is what made it so good. I never got over losing the Ideal Bars. If we get enough attention it will spread like wildfire. When Nabisco first started, the biscuit cookies and crackers were stored in large bins, or cracker barrels and sold at country grocery stores by the scoopful. Aside from this, I remember not only the great flavors of those treats but the sheer QUALITY of them and all of Nabisco products. Still crave them . They were so delicious out of the refrigerator. I was telling my children and my husband about it. Pretty close! This cookie was by far the most delicious blend of flavors you could ever ask for. I also feel the same way about the old Hershey 'Bar None' candy bar, which only lasted a short timeduring the 1990's. Sometimes Mom hid them - they lasted about a day, cost a little more than most other cookies and were worth every dime. The cookie was great, the package was great. I too was an Ideal Bar Addict.
